Write On! Monday

I love Mondays!!!  A new week, a clean slate.  Ahhh . . .

This week because of health issues, I'm going to keep my goals to a minimum.  Any forward progress is good no matter how small, right?

With that in mind, I would like to retrieve the hard-copy manuscript of my novella that my beta reader finished reading and marking.  Perhaps, I'll even start entering in some of the changes I agree with.  Maybe, maybe not.  :)

During the month of December, my top priority is to finish preparing my online workshop that I will be teaching in January.

I would like to also get the novella ready to submit, but that might have to wait until after the holidays.  My goal is to submit by mid-January.  Then on to a new project and new writing!!!

Happy Writing All!!!

Wrapping up the Week

I hope everyone survived Thanksgiving.  I had a good time, but went to bed with a migraine and I'm still recovering.  All of that food was delicious, but it's like dodging a minefield of MSG and other headache triggers.  Obviously, I didn't dodge the bullet.

In regards to the writing week, I finished a rough draft of the synopsis for the novella and sent the manuscript to a couple of beta readers.  So I'm on target with my goals.

I launched my blog *smiles*, even though this probably wasn't the ideal week to do so.  Oh well, Monday starts a new week.

Everyone have a good weekend!!!

Happy Writing!!!

Wednesday's Spotlight

Since I'm easing into this blog, this spotlight will be short and sweet.  One of my favorite quotes on writing is by Dean Koontz:

Writing a novel is like making love, but it’s also like having a tooth pulled. Pleasure and pain. Sometimes it’s like making love while having a tooth pulled.”

Ain't it the truth!!!

Anyone want to share their favorite quotes?

Happy Writing!!!

Write On! Monday (the first one)

I know I'm late in posting this, but I did write first thing this morning, before doing all my other Monday things like laundry and cleaning.  Mondays are my days to get my act together for the coming week. *grin*

My goal for this week,(and yes I know it's Thanksgiving week), is to get a good start on the synopsis for the novella I finished a couple of weeks ago.  I would also like to send it out to a couple of beta readers to see if the story works, the pace, the plotline, etc.

Happy Writing!!!

If I Build it, Will They Come?

 I certainly hope so.  *grin*

I've decided I'm going to ease into this blog, especially since I'm famous for lurking everywhere else on the web.  Those who know me, know what I'm talking about.

Writers are notorious for making excuses for not writing.  Prepubs get pulled into the contest circuit and polish the first three chapters over and over again.  Authors get caught up in promotion, sometimes to the exclusion of everything else.  We tend to forget that a great story or book is our most important and effective promotional tool.

So this blog is dedicated to helping writers get back to writing.  Those who are familiar with my twice-yearly writathons (April Madness and October Obsession) know how support and encouragement can spur you on to write and write some more.

Here's how I see this blog working:

Mondays are going to be the start to a new writing week.  I'll post on Write On! Monday, stating my goals for the week.  I hope other writers will join me and state their goals and intentions, too.  During the course of the week,  we'll check in and report how we're doing.  And on TGIF, we'll see how we all did.  Weekend writers will do this on Friday, then Monday.

It's important to understand that any writing is progress.  If it's only one sentence, then so be it.  It's one more sentence you have that you didn't have before.  Books are written one word at a time.

I'm also thinking about having authors blogging every other Wednesday in the Wednesday Spotlights.  I love to hear how authors received The Call, so that's what I would like my guest bloggers to post about.  On the other Wednesdays, I'll post about my favorite writing resources, reference books,  craft books, favorite quotes, etc.

I envision this as a place for writers to hang out.  If someone needs help on a plot point or characterization, we could brainstorm.  The possibilities are endless.  Suggestions are always welcomed and encouraged.

Happy Writing!!!
